This study uses the knowledge, techniques, and concepts of Surface Design to achieve its main objective, which is to develop a collection of textile prints portraying the manual act of embroidery, originating from a Neo-Venetian family heritage. The approach used to gather data about the study subject is qualitative, collected through an interview with an artisan of Italian descent who belongs to the academic’s family. To define the procedures to be adopted, the project methodology “Surfaces of a Place” (MOL, 2018) was chosen, aiding in idea generation and organizing the execution stages. Regarding the results achieved, the objective was fully met, as it was possible to portray the proposed concepts, resulting in a collection of prints applied to home items, adding meaning to everyday pieces.
