This work conducts a comparative analysis between two electrodes: E7018, widely used for its toughness and ductility, and UTP LEDURIT 61, indicated for high-wear applications. The objective is to evaluate their performance in terms of mechanical strength, structural behavior, and microstructure. To this end, welds were performed on SAE 1020 carbon steel plates with a thickness of 1/4" for both electrodes, following AWS B2.1/B2.1M:2021 standards. Tensile tests, Vickers microhardness, and metallographic analyses were conducted. The tensile test results show that the E7018 electrode exhibits predominantly ductile behavior before fracture, whereas the UTP LEDURIT 61 reveals no plastic deformation before rupture. These results enable a comparison of electrode performance under different conditions, providing technical support for the more appropriate choice in industrial welding processes.
